A Victor Sonde initiative
Decision Intelligence Lab for African Youth
Turning everyday challenges into structured decisions, creative solutions and opportunity portfolios. Simulation-based capacity building · ages 18–45 · Africa & diaspora.
Founder · why now
I keep meeting brilliant young people stuck in broken systems.
For years I've built learning, employability and entrepreneurship programmes across Africa, the UK and the diaspora. The pattern never changes: the talent is real, the ambition is real — but the structured thinking that converts ability into opportunity was never taught.
Three forces make this urgent now: a generation-defining youth bulge, AI that makes structured guidance affordable at scale, and employers everywhere desperate for people who can actually solve problems.
"The gap isn't ability. It's decision architecture — and that can be taught."

Talent is everywhere. Leverage is not.
01
Survival thinking
When environments are unpredictable, energy goes to getting through today — not to mapping, deciding and building for tomorrow.
02
Unclear pathways
Opportunity exists, but the route to it is invisible. Unreliable institutions and weak networks leave ability without a ladder.
03
The leverage gap
Peers in optimised environments inherit better tools, exposure and structured thinking. Same ability, radically different outcomes.
Proof points
Youth unemployment and underemployment figures for target markets to be sourced and cited before funder meetings. The deck's population statistics are marked "verify" — they stay off the site until sourced.
Simulation learning experience
Learning by deciding
Every scenario runs the same loop. Repeat it across dozens of real challenges and structured thinking becomes a reflex.
The loop repeats — across life, career, enterprise and community scenarios
01 / Systems thinking
See the whole — actors, incentives, loops — behind any challenge.
02 / Design thinking
Generate, prototype and test creative solutions for real people.
03 / Decision intelligence
Weigh options under uncertainty and commit with structure.
04 / AI-enabled learning
Personalised practice, prompts and feedback at individual scale.
05 / Human coaching
Industry mentors who challenge thinking and model judgement.
06 / Portfolio assessment
Evidence of capability, not attendance — assessed and credentialed.

Pilot plan
A focused pilot cohort of 100 participants over approximately six months: design and recruit, run the lab, present and assess, then report with a blueprint for cohort two.

100 participants. Fund one pilot cohort, named in the impact report, quarterly briefing, two mentor seats.
Architect
Scale partner
500–1,000 participants. Multi-cohort funding, co-branded cohorts, talent-pipeline access, mentor programme and data dashboard.
Legacy
Flagship partner
5,000+ participants. Named flagship programme, strategic co-design seat, regional or national rollout, full impact platform.
Contribution levels and per-participant costs are validated during the pilot — figures not published until confirmed
Built to move five SDGs
SDG 4
Quality Education
Applied, simulation-based learning that sticks.
SDG 8
Decent Work
Employability and enterprise readiness.
SDG 9
Innovation
Builds innovation capability at the edges.
SDG 10 · 17
Equality & Partnerships
Closes the leverage gap, built on funder, corporate and institution partnership.
Measurement
Decision-confidence lift, portfolio completion, progression to work or enterprise, scenarios completed and alumni ventures launched. Baselines and endline targets are set during the pilot — no numbers published before then.
